aftertherockets: (spn - you okay little brother?)
Real life is seriously kicking my ass these days. In case you were wondering what happened to me.

Good things, though? The cookie swap was yesterday and I made out with a ton of cookies made by people who are better at baking than I am, which--awesome, and most of the cookies aren't even chocolatey, so double win. AND Tricia came over last night and we watched Love Actually, which always manages to give me warm fuzzies, so yay. ANNNND I hung out with Stew over the weekend. We were supposed to be Christmas shopping, but I only managed to buy one thing, and I still have no idea what to do for my family and I'm fast approaching brokesville, so I don't know about all that. But, happy things! We hung out and watched the Grinch and all was well.

Other than that: Memes for the bored. )

Sooo...no one's going to be in the office with me for a couple of hours, and I'm running out of work to do, so I kinda wanna do the top 5 meme again, and I'm gonna steal Teija's line:

Ask me top fives or I'll silently resent you!

Please? BOREDOM MIGHT KILL ME!
aftertherockets: (vm - i finally feel wanted)
It's a slow day. I already took a long lunch and it's still only 3:30. So, to amuse myself, memes:

Yet another fandom-type meme )

Also, I was tagged by a new friend, [livejournal.com profile] ellie79:

Meme in Sevens )

I bought a whole bunch of stuff yesterday. I have lots of things to talk about. There will probably be a meanderingly long post later tonight sometime. Just a forewarning. ;)
aftertherockets: (vm - WALLACE!)
1. [livejournal.com profile] sihaya09!! I got my Christmas present in the mail today! Yay Serenity!! Thanks, darlin. *smooches*

2. I sent out half of my Christmas cards yesterday. Hopefully the other half will go out tomorrow, if I finish them tonight. If not, well, everyone who'll be getting them late will just have to consider them Hannukah cards. ;)

3. Fandom meme where I post fandoms and you guess my favorite characters. I'm an open book. This should be easy. :p )

4. I am thisclose to finishing my shopping and putting this stupid holiday behind me. 2006 cannot come fast enough. But, I have only one person left to buy for, and I already know what he's getting. And then all I have to do is wrap everything. :p But yay! No more stupid holiday shopping!

5. My sister is ashamed of me because I know the words to more than one Kelly Clarkson song. I say, SUCK IT TREBECK.

6. In four days, I get my first day off of work in three and a half weeks! Although, it's Christmas Eve, so I don't think it counts. But still! A whole day with no going anywhere and getting paid for it! Yay!

ETA: OMG MY ICONS MATCH!

ETA2: Something I've been thinking about recently: Why is it that all the cute boys are massive tools and all the nice boys are utterly, hopelessly, going-on-a-three-month-mission-trip-to-north-Africa religious? Can anyone explain this to me?
aftertherockets: (vm - staring down)
I've been doing a lot of thinking and reflecting on what exactly it was that happened this year, because I guess that's what I'm supposed to be doing right now. But, instead of writing about all that, I figured I'd do what I usually do and write something else entirely. I'm nothing if not consistent. :p

I was tagged, ummmm, days ago for this meme, but I am slow and therefore only just doing it.

5 Quirky Things About Me )

In other news, there is no heat in my office and it's currently snowing outside. I'm wearing a sweater and my coat and a scarf and my fingers and nose are due to fall clean off any minute now. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Supposedly, someone's going to come fix the heat soon, but I don't know why I'm not allowed to do like our tenant in the building next to us and just go home any time the heat isn't working. Yeesh.

Though, if I went home, I'd miss my very first office Christmas party tonight after work. And, truth be told, I am a little excited to see the people who work upstairs let their collective hair down a little. Especially the one I've affectionately dubbed ToolBoy. He could use some relaxation. :p

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
aftertherockets: (ww - miss this every day)
So, I worked all weekend, so no fun Halloween things for me. Joy of joys. I do, however, have the kind of awesome friends who stay the night at your house and then get up early, steal your keys, go looking for a grocery store, and come back to make you a huge pancake and eggs breakfast. So that's a plus, anyway. ;)

I've been meaning to post about this forever, but for my McDaniel Bookstore people: I called Kyle and Vickie last week to thank them for saying nice things about me when my new manager at B&N called, and they told me that it's all Babywatch all the time over there. Apparently, Amy's due in about two and a half weeks, and Kyle is driving Vickie crazy. I say we road trip up to school when Racheal gets back to see the baby. I really can't wait to see Kyle as a dad. :p

And as a musical side note, how weird is it to hear Tom McRae's "A Day Like Today" on a commercial for the Pontiac G6? Very weird, indeed.

Man, this whole daylight savings thing is really throwing me off this year. Only about half the clocks in the office have been changed, and I keep thinking it's an hour later than it is, which would be nice because then I could go home. ALAS.

1. The movie meme, for [livejournal.com profile] bellanut has commanded it so. MEMEMEMEME! )

2. VM talk. Spoilers through 1x22 and some stuff I'd like to see next season. )

3. I may have an in for a job in Annapolis. I may also be able to afford to move in with Ashley sometime in June or early July. This makes me very, very happy.

4. Plans for the week include: a Firefly marathon, making Aster watch ESotSM with me cause OMG I've been trying since September, packing, getting my car looked at finally, watching the rest of S1 Arrested Development, and maybe attending sporadic senior week events. Weeeeeee. :)

That's all for now. Expect a detailed concert report and a pic!spam sometime later this evening. Maybe tomorrow.
aftertherockets: (hp - my brave face)
Seriously. I've skipped more class than I've attended in the last two weeks. This is slightly distressing.

Instead of going to class or taking a shower, I did a meme! )

Ugggghhhhh. Ugh, I say!

ETA: More memeage. )

So I do memes. (I promise I'm going to finish the Paint one. My computer is soooo slow, though.)

Fandom meme thing )

So the fandom meme has prompted me to ask a question I've wondered before. How is it that people will love a show/movie/book, and yet hate the main character so fiercely? I mean, I've seen a ton of people say they love BtVS, and yet hate Buffy's character, or people who love the Harry Potter books, and yet hate Harry. For Buffy, I can sort of see it, as there are a lot of other characters to like instead, but in HP? Harry is one of about four characters that is fleshed out at all, and he's in every single scene. For both of these, and other shows/movies/books where people hate the main character, how do people reconcile continuing to watch or read when the character they hate gets all the screen time? Personally, if I hated Buffy Summers, no amount of Daniel Osbournes or Rupert Gileses would make the show worth watching. But that's just me.

And as a sidenote? I totally do not get the rabid Draco love at all. I hate Draco so so much. He's the most boring, one-dimensional "villianous" character EVER. I'm really hoping he just doesn't show up to Hogwarts in book six. Cause I hate him.

Anyway, I'm waiting for my laundry to dry, and then I'm going to go finish spending my Christmas money. I need pants, so pants I shall buy.

I wanted to do this meme the first time around, but I was busy with the end of the semester and stuff so I didn't. So now I am!

1. Comment and I'll pick one of your LJ interests and draw you a picture using the mighty MS Paint.
2. You have no say in what I draw for you. Or in how good or bad it will be.
3. Put this in your journal with the picture I drew for you.
4. Drabbles (100 words) are also allowed for those who really don't want to draw.

My pictures! )

It may take me a little bit of time to do them should you choose to reply, as I'm heading off to dinner at Megan's brother's house, and then she's coming back here to hang and stuff, but I promise I'll get them done. And I really want to play! So comment! Fools!

I'm bored.

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] madrigalblue

First Bike: I had a big pink bike with a banana seat. It may or may not have had a basket and streamers, I can't remember.

First Best Friend: Kim Berry. She lived next door to my grandmother's house, and we used to play all the time. I haven't seen her in years...

First Memory: Possibly my father coming up the sidewalk to my house in the snow. I'm not sure if that's the earliest memory I have or not, but it's pretty far back.

First Car: The old people car! An 85 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Oh yeah.

First Date with Girl: Do girls nights out count?

First Real Girl Date: As opposed to the fake kind of girls? The wooden puppet girls?

First Girl Kiss: Oh, I couldn't tell you. I don't kiss girls in any way other than a friendly one, and I don't know the answer to the first time I did that, cause it was quite a few years ago.

First Girl Break-up: I like boys. ;)

More of the never ending survey. Read it if you care... )

It's been a really crappy week or two. I want to run away to Pittsburgh or Philadelphia...or even Westminster. Just far far away from here.
