surgical assistant in training

I'm listening to the Pat McGee Band. This CD was on common rotation in my stereo when Greg and I were apart the first time, when he was a freshmen. Right now, I've transported to my bedroom senior year of high school. I'm laying on the bed, writing in my journal, doing homework, waiting for the phone to ring. It's funny how much things have changed in three years. It's funny how much things haven't changed in three years.
Anyway. I've been going to work with my mother this past week. One of the girls in her office took vacation this week, so they needed a little extra help filing and doing front desk work and all that. So I've mostly been doing grunt work and such until today. The doctor took me in the back and let me sit in on an oral surgery. I thought maybe I'd be really squeamish, that kind of thing usually squicks me out. But it was kinda neat, and I learned a lot already. I also assisted with post-op stuff, helped the Doc take out stitches on two patients and stuff. I definitely prefer that to filing. ;)
Ummmm...what else? I've been reading childhood stories in
socks_192's journal and it's sparked an entry to write some of my own. I like to remember that kind of stuff anyway, I think it would be fun to write. And who knows, it might spark some creativity in me for other projects. So look for sagas in the life of Heather, coming soon. :)
My uncle is moving back to DC. He lives in Boston now, and something happened, so he's coming back here. He's actually going to be staying with us for awhile until he finds his own place in the city. My mother is a little apprehensive about it, and that makes me worry. I don't really know him well at all, so I have no idea what might happen. We shall see soon, I guess. I'll give you more details as I get them.
That's enough randomness for one entry.
