Studio 60
I did want to mention that I thought this episode picked up a bit, and the pacing didn't feel quite as odd to me as it has in the last few eps. I was pleasantly surprised to see Timothy Busfield's name as director, too. I'm not sure I'm really on board with Matt and Harriet yet, but I think it's because I love Matt and don't know where I stand with Harriet. I love the Big Three together, though. More of them, please.

Also, and this makes me sad, but I don't think I like Danny very much. I'm pretty sure if Danny were played by someone who wasn't Bradley Whitford, I'd actively dislike him. As it was, he did that Stackhouse Filibuster baseball stance thing with his whole "I miss nothing" and general adorableness thing, and I was swayed for the time being. I guess if they just let Danny be Bradley, it'll be okay.

Dexter
I still haven't watched ep3 yet, but I liked the second episode a lot more than the pilot. They did a much better job of smacking us in the face with the whole serial killer thing. I felt like this one allowed me to get complacent, kind of, oh yeah, he's a serial killer, that's creepy blahblahblah, and then WAM. It made that scene so much worse. I'm definitely along for the ride now.

Plus, Michael C. Hall? Still kind of hot. In a creepy sort of way.

VM
I don't know, maybe it's just because any expectations I have for this show have flown completely out the window, but so far I'm having fun with this season. I find that, now that I don't really care one way or the other about what happens to these people, it's a lot easier to take it all at face value. The pot thing? The far-fetched prison experiment? The fact that freshmen who've been there about a week are allowed to rush? Ehhhhh, who cares? Logan was naked.

That being said, I'm still not really okay with the rape storyline. I think as long as they don't ever mention Beaver ever ever again, I'll probably just forget about it and move on. That's one plot point I'm not really planning on ever forgiving, so the less said about it the better. I do like that the emotional focus was shifted to Parker and Mac, that's something I can get behind. I'd just rather not see Veronica get involved any deeper than she already is.

Anyway. I am wondering why they chose not to follow up the Dick/Logan stuff in this episode. I mean, I guess they couldn't, with Logan being in prison all weekend (and I'll definitely take Logan/Wallace scenes over Logan/Dick scenes any day), but I do want to see Veronica's reaction. Shades of last season and all that. Except, you know, Dick's a horrible human being with very few redeeming qualities. (As a side note, with the reappearance of Lamb, I've been trying to figure out why I don't have a lot of problems with exploring a more redemptive, for lack of a better word, arc for Dick, but the idea of Lamb being fleshed out as someone who is more than just a jerk in charge makes my skin crawl a little bit. Essentially, they are the same kind of awful person. I guess maybe I feel like Dick has a chance to change the course his life will take, and Lamb is well past the point of no return. Plus there's the whole power dynamic thing. I don't know exactly, but I know I've been uneasy about Muhney being added to the credits ever since I heard about it at the beginning of the summer, and I can't pinpoint why.)

Other things:
++ As much as I wanted Veronica to be on the newspaper again, I kind of love her library job. I did four years of work study in the campus library, so, you know, of course I love it. I also have mad love for the scene with Veronica stretched out on Wallace's bed. I miss the easy friendship between them, and little scenes like that can go a long way.

++ Can we keep Shawn Hunter? And Neal for that matter. I'm not gonna lie, I kind of love that this show has had both Rider Strong and JTT guest star. Not that I had Teen Beat pinups of either of them on my wall when I was ten or anything. I just find it amusing. Really!

++ So, no matter what else might happen on this show, can we get a guarantee from someone that Wallace and Logan will stay friends? I love the mutual respect with a side of one-upmanship they've got going.

++ Does anyone actually understand what happened with Keith and the Fitzpatricks? Because I honestly don't get it. Not even a little bit. All that double-crossing started to make my head spin, so I stopped paying attention.

It looks like I'm going to be working on Tuesday nights from now until eternity, which is kind of crappy, but I can't say I miss watching VM with commercials. :p

I went to see The Science of Sleep last night. It was, obviously, visually stunning, but I haven't been able to figure out yet if there was much else to it. I liked it, I was entertained for two hours, and Gael Garcia Bernal is fucking beautiful, but I can't figure out if there was actually any substance to this movie. I probably just need to see it again, because I was very tired last night, but that'll have to wait until DVD.

There were some really funny moments, and I loved the giant Dave Grohl hands, if only because I have that dream a lot. I liked the way dreams and reality were infused so that there was no way of telling what's real and what's not. There were moments that made me so incredibly sad, too. I left the theater in this state of melancholy that took me awhile to shake, but now I can't really remember why I felt that way. Like I said, rewatch.

I got my hands on S1 of BSG, I think I'm going to attempt to watch it again. I got sidetracked by Six Feet Under, but now that the new season started I figured it's time to try and catch up for real. Also! The Office tonight! And Winchesters! Good thing I've got TV to keep me going!

NEVERMIND! Okay, so I totally misjudged and he would much rather see The Departed than watch football, so yeah, since he works a double on Wed, do you want to see the Departed now on Monday? hehe
