Things that make me happy today:

1. I have such Rent love right now. The show itself could have been a little better, and mostly it made me wish I wasn't 13 in 1996, but it was fun, and it was nice to see the staging and choreography now that I know the show pretty much inside out, since the last time I saw it on stage was the first time I'd seen it at all.

Our Roger was pretty awful, but apparently he was the understudy, so I could forgive him a little. I never liked Roger much until I saw Adam Pascal do it right in the movie. The first guy we saw as him mostly played up the emo and depressed aspect, and I always thought of Roger as a little whiny and obnoxious. I like Adam Pascal's Roger a lot, though--you can actually see him struggling with his own battle between death and happiness, and you know, he's not so ridiculously emo I want to punch him. Unfortunately, the Roger we saw on Saturday was some terrible combination of emo and a bad singer, so it got a little excruciating at times. Other than him, and a spotty Mimi, the rest of the cast was pretty good (thankfully the guy who played Collins owned), so it was lots of fun. I was pretty bouncy through the entire first act. I've always loved the big group numbers the best, but there's nothing like seeing "Christmas Bells" or "Rent" or "Another Day" on stage.

So, yay for Rent. All last night I was trolling for clips of the OBC on YouTube, but it was getting pretty late and I couldn't watch all of them, so now I have a gazillion bookmarked links of OBC adorableness waiting for me when I get home.

2. Racheal came in Friday night, and we went downtown for Thai food, and then walked down to the docks to see the sailboats in from the Volvo Ocean Race. We stopped for gelato before heading back to the unit where we made Racheal watch a bunch of my favorite episodes of The Office (You can't fire me. I don't work in this van.) before crashing. Saturday night was Rent, and we met Stew in DC and ate in Dupont before the show. We went to some party in Greenbelt with Aster's friends that night, where I think everyone must have thought I was an idiot, because all I did was barely keep my eyes open the whole time. But hey, I got to see Aster, and that was good. Yesterday we got up semi-early and went back into the city to see the Dada exhibit at the National Gallery. Heh, Ashley and I also had a good time perusing the 19th Centry Spanish art section (lots of dead matadors). We went over to Dupont again and had a late lunch/early dinner at Teaism (curry!) and hit up a candle store before heading home. This weekend was mostly very fun, though it made having to get up for work this morning extra difficult.

3. Any variation of the name "JfDoh." Cracks me up every. single. time.

4. Hey, remember how CJ Cregg used to be absolutely the coolest ever? Yeah, so do I! Thanks, show. I got a little misty-eyed during the CJ/Toby scene, and it's been a long time since the show has made me do that--character deaths notwithstanding. Plus, I've always loved CJ and Danny, and I'm glad we got a little of that, because it's one thing to know they end up together, it's another thing to actually see how they got there. And, you know, everybody felt mostly like themselves, and that was nice. Also nice was the lack of facial growth on Charlie's face, and hell, actually showing Charlie in an episode at all! I hope everyone is gonna appear next week. How much would it suck not to be included in the finale?

5. Christina's post about this weekend. Or, well, actually, Ashley's demon spawn icon. Hee.

6. I'm officially going to be tutoring Spanish to a high school senior over the summer. I don't actually *speak* fluent Spanish, but I'm hoping this will be an opportunity for me to get a little closer to that particular goal of mine. But I think I'll do okay, especially since I'm only tutoring him on the early-level stuff. I know the grammar, I'm just awful at connecting stuff in my head. I think I've figured out what my roadblock is, though. Instead of just hearing the language, I translate everything in my head first, and then I'm always two sentences behind whatever's being said. I'm not sure how to fix that, but there you go.

7. Today has completely flown by. It's already after lunch. Woo.

8. I wore rainbow-striped underwear to Rent. I'm still amused, okay?

9. Animaniacs on DVD!

10. The fact that, even though there is an equally long list of things that don't make me happy today (which includes the rainy weather, having to work 15 hours today, getting chastised for not cleaning up after other people who never clean up after themselves, not being terribly excited for the VM finale, and my mom canceling our hair appointment/dinner date for tomorrow night), I'm not especially compelled to dwell on any of them. Woohoo, happy things.

How's everyone else on this somewhat bleak Monday?
